Who conducts the survey?

The nationwide personal traffic survey data is collected by the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, which maintains a registry of the research data. The data collection and processing of the personal traffic survey are carried out by Destia Oy and Taloustutkimus Oy.

You were randomly selected from the population information system to represent the population.

Who can participate in this survey?

Anyone who has received an invitation to participate can respond to the survey regarding their own traffic behavior and the journeys made on the travel day. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you can withdraw at any time if you wish.

How can you respond to the survey?

You can respond in Finnish, Swedish, English, or Russian. It is easiest for visually impaired individuals to use a mobile device.

You can complete the survey in parts

You can answer questions about your background information and travel habits if you wish, even before the actual survey day.

Add the journeys you make during your survey day to the questionnaire during the day or immediately afterward. You can pause adding information at any time and continue later.

Keep your survey code and password so you can access the questionnaire again.

Confidentiality

Your personal data and responses are processed solely for the purpose of conducting the survey and are stored securely. The survey also inquires about some information regarding other possible members of your household. Among the entities involved in the implementation of the research project, only Taloustutkimus processes your personal data (name and address information).

The basis for processing personal data is the public interest related to the performance of the research task. You can stop responding to the survey at any time. The source of the address for the research register is the Population Information System (Digital and Population Data Services Agency, P.O. Box, 00531 Helsinki).

Please inform the members of your household, to whom the questions you have answered pertain, about the privacy statement.

You will not receive any spam mail as a result of your participation. Taloustutkimus saves your answers securely and keeps them confidential. In the analysis stage, your responses are combined with the responses of other survey participants into a single dataset. Your responses will not be linked to your direct personal information so it is not possible to identify you through the responses. The responses of all survey participants are compiled into material that is used as a basis for research publications. In the publications, the responses are examined as part of a larger set of materials, and the responses of an individual respondent are not presented separately.
